BBM supplied LUFRA with a used KRONES Contiform S8 blow molder, installed at the customer’s production facility in Albania. Following the positive experience and the collaboration established through this supply, LUFRA later turned again to BBM for a revamping intervention on the same machine, aimed at optimizing its performance and extending its lifecycle.
Who is LUFRA: a leading dairy company in Albania
Founded in 1992 in Lushnjë, LUFRA is today one of the leading dairy companies in Albania. For over thirty years, it has been producing and distributing milk, yogurt, cheese, and other dairy products, standing out for product quality and a continuous commitment to technological innovation.
With a processing capacity of more than 65 tons of milk per day, an extensive logistics network across Albania and Kosovo, and a growing presence in international markets, LUFRA represents one of the most dynamic and recognized players in the Albanian agri-food sector.
BBM turnkey solution for the customer: from revamping to start-up
The collaboration between LUFRA and BBM began in 2025 at Drinktec, the leading international trade fair dedicated to beverage technologies held in Munich. Following a machine inspection, LUFRA chose to rely on BBM for the supply of the KRONES Contiform S8 blow molder, complete with chiller, molds, and bottle neck conversion system.
In 2026, the collaboration continued with the revamping of the same blow molder intended for LUFRA’s main plant in Lushnjë, in the heart of one of Albania’s most important agri-food regions.
BBM managed the entire process: the machine arrived at BBM’s facility in Lenna (Bergamo) at the end of January, where it remained for approximately three months of processing.
The revamping activity was structured into several phases, including:
- routine and extraordinary maintenance;
- complete overhaul of the machine;
- design and manufacturing of new molds for the bottle format developed by BBM.
The project was completed with the installation and start-up of the machine at the customer’s facility.
BBM develops a new bottle format for LUFRA
A key aspect of the project was the design and development of custom bottle molds for LUFRA. This requirement arose from the conversion of the production line, previously dedicated to milk and later converted to liquid yogurt production, which required a transition from a 1L bottle to a new 40 cl format.
To meet this need, BBM internally developed the new bottle design and manufactured the related molds. The produced samples were then sent directly to Albania for customer approval, as the customer was unable to be present at BBM’s facility during this phase. Once the solution was approved, the FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) was successfully carried out.
Fast installation thanks to BBM service support
Installation at the customer’s site was completed in just a few days, ensuring a rapid commissioning of the plant. Two specialized BBM service technicians managed all phases of the intervention: in just three and a half days they completed the installation, carried out production tests with the bottles developed by BBM, verified correct machine operation, and ensured compliance of the new format with the required specifications.
At the same time, the technicians trained the customer’s maintenance team, transferring the necessary know-how for routine operation and first-level maintenance activities.
The intervention was completed with the start-up of the blow molder.
The collaboration with LUFRA will continue after machine delivery: BBM will continue to provide technical support through its service department and spare parts availability, ensuring production continuity, plant reliability, and long-term efficiency.
The project confirms BBM’s ability to support customers throughout the entire lifecycle of their plants, from used machine supply and revamping to installation, training, and after-sales support.
