Cantina di La-Vis e Valle di Cembra is a collective wine production asset in the heart the of Trentino region. Cantina di La-Vis’ vineyards extend over 750 hectares for about 800 members. The asset is dedicated to the care of a hilly territory and committed to preserving the specificity of production, territoriality, and quality as their flagship. The head office and production plant are located in the village of Lavis, near Trento. In 2022, Cantina di La-vis requested the expertise of BBM Service to optimize the layout of the glass bottling line. The project stemmed from the need to optimise the useful workspace, in order to make production linear and efficient. The idea was to create a configuration such that the line could be controlled from a single workstation.

Layout Optimization

Following an in-depth audit, BBM Service carried out a re-layout study that included the supply of new conveyors and control panel for the plant, including depalletising, capsuling filling, wrapping in 2×3 wrap-around boxes, palletising and wrapping.

In just three weeks, BBM Service’s specialist technicians took care of the relocation of the existing line, including the installation and start-up of a new bottle washer, capsuling machine, and labeller. BBM interfaced with the various suppliers, acting as the prime contractor and coordinating the installation and start-up of the line.

BBM’s bottle conveyors

For the construction of the line, carefully selected conveyors were used by BBM to handle any type of container with maximum accuracy. Made entirely of stainless steel, they are durable, easy to install and designed for easy cleaning. Designed for maximum reliability, BBM conveyor belts boast significantly reduced maintenance requirements. Due to the stability required by the type of product, the belts have been equipped with a specially designed side-by-side system.

The control panel

The control panel is also made of stainless steel. The components are positioned in a logical manner, and it consists of a hardware and software structure of complete BBM design. The hardware has been realised using components from leading manufacturers on the market, while the software is designed taking into account the peculiarities of the plant to be automated. In particular, our management software uses ‘Energy Saving’ logic, which minimises the level of consumption of the plant. In fact, the belt motors are not switched on all the time, but automatically stop and restart according to the product flow.

The line management system was designed to be directly  manageable from our offices, in order to assist the customer remotely if needed.

The result is an optimised glass bottling line, capable of safely packing 7000 bottles of wine per hour.
